When the heroic power of Eivind Holtsmark Ringstad's viola playing won him first prize at the Eurovision Young Musician competition, it was such an extraordinary feat that musicians worldwide stopped making viola jokes (at least for a while). Since then, he’s hardly rested on his laurels, but made a daily event of tearing strings and bow hair during his fervent practicing. However, if you meet Eivind backstage or outside the practice room, there’s little to suggest what a bloodbath has just taken place. Eivind’s modest, mild character smiles at everyone he meets. Through the long and intense tutelage of his viola teacher Soon-Mi Chung, Eivind is ready to take over the world, a viola in his hand and a smile on his face.
